Selectmen's Minutes 01/15/08
The weekly meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held on Tuesday evening, January 15, 2008 at 7:05 p.m.

Present: Theresa McNulty, Chairman; Peter A. Hamilton
        Karen Grabau, Adm. Assistant

Not Present: David L. Walsh, Clerk
               George Samia, Town Administrator

M/Hamilton, s/McNulty, a unanimous vote, move to Open Meeting at 7:05 p.m.

M/Hamilton, s/McNulty, move to go into Executive Session for the purpose of contract negotiations and will return to Open Session at 7:30 p.m.
VOTE: Yes – McNulty, Hamilton; a unanimous vote in favor

Meeting reconvened at 7:40 p.m. in Open Session.

Mrs. McNulty noted that Mr. Walsh was unable to attend this evenings meeting and that per protocol Mr. Hamilton will serve as Clerk for the evening.

Mrs. McNulty extended the Board’s condolences to the family of William Luddy, who passed away this weekend.

APPOINTMENT
Board presented a Citation to Sam Young in honor of his receiving his Eagle Scout Award in Troop 29.

Scout Master, Frank Ray spoke on the Sam’s Eagle Scout project. Sam explained his project and the reasons he chose to make picnic tables for the Middle School.

Mrs. McNulty read the Citation.

Board expressed their appreciation to Sam for the project.

APPOINTMENT
John Stanbrook, Town Accountant met with the Board for the purpose of signing his contract.

It was noted that the contract was a 4-year contract.

Mr. Stanbrook stated that he was very pleased to be working in East Bridgewater.

The Board members and Mr. Stanbrook signed the contract.

M/Hamilton, s/McNulty, a unanimous vote, move to approve the minutes of the January 8, 2007 meeting.

REMINDERS:
Town Clerk’s message re: unenrolled voters ability to vote in Primary
Absentee Ballots available at Town Clerk’s Office.
Trash Pick-up – delayed one day due to storm

Mr. Hamilton read an announcement from the Fire Department that two East Bridgewater families have lost homes in fires.

Finance Committee Budget Process
Plymouth County Selectmen’s Assn. Meeting

Mrs. McNulty announced that Coins for the Community drive would end on January 31. Also announced that the Friends of Seniors were sponsoring a Logo Contest for Middle and High School students based on E B (Everyone Benefits); cash prize will be awarded to winner; deadline to submit art work is March 3.

OPEN FORUM
Mary P. Coelho and Penny Milauskas, East Bridgewater Arts Council Members met with the Board. Mrs. Coelho apologized for putting out ads and flyers regarding planned event, Cake Decorating Contest, with town hall conference room without Board’s approval. Stated that she didn’t realize that the room needed to be approved for use. Thought that it would be the same as booking room for a meeting.

Board members explained that because of past problems with room use that they were in the process of developing a set of guidelines and fees, which will be instituted for room use in town hall.

Board requested that the Arts Council look into either a room at a school or the Public Room at the Library.
